CABIN FEVER AT LAST!
After what seems like an aeon since it's completion, we are proud to
finally announce the proper release of the 'Cabin Fever' album by THE
SCARAMANGA SIX. This utter behemoth of a long-player was recorded by Mr
Tim Smith of Cardiacs infamy and features recent singles 'The Poison Pen',
'We Rode The Storm' & 'Horrible Face' as well as a big steaming heap
of other
ace tracks. The full tracklisting is:
1. Soul Destroyer 2. Smite My Face 3. The Poison Pen 4. Pincers 5. We
Rode
The Storm 6. Unclean 7. A Song For You 8. The Electricity Bill 9. Poison
Fang 10. The Coward 11. Horrible Face
Also included is the hideously insane rabbit-fest of a video for 'The
Poison Pen' and the CD comes with a unique 3-D sticker design giving it
that extra gore factor with several layers of blood. Cabin Fever is of
course The Scaramanga Six's 3rd album. Thanks indeed to the many of you
who have got hold of the early versions of this album through gigs, mail
order and online so far - I expect we are preaching to the converted to
many of you. However, if you haven't managed to get your grubby mits on
this yet,
the official release schedule is as follows:
26/09/05 - Available in leading independent shops such as Rough Trade,
Piccadilly Records, Jumbo Records, Action Records, Pure Groove, Replay
Records etc and a host of online stores such as Oxfordmusic, RythmnOnline,
Norman Records etc.
This
date also sees the release of the special MP3 download version on www.karmadownload.com
- this version will contain an extra 2 tracks (session versions of 'Soul
Destroyer' and 'Pincers'). Follow
the link on the main page.
10/10/05 - Stock becomes available in HMV megastores across the country
and
also through the large online stores such as Amazon and HMV.co.uk
To wet your earbuds, we also have one of them new fangled Myspace sites
up where you can sample a few tracks from the album RIGHT NOW. Check it
out at: www.myspace.com/thescaramangasix
We should also be circulating an MPEG 'video-advert' for the album to
our
mailing list soon. This weighs in at about 2meg, so if you didn't get
it, check the downloads page to watch the whole think in all it's filthy
glory.
PLAUDITS, PUNDITS AND PLAYLISTS
'Cabin Fever' has finally been unleashed onto the ears of the critics
in
readiness for it's 'proper' release on the 26th. Here's some ace new bits
of crawly-bumlick press so far:
'This should be the record that finally makes the rest of the country
sit
up and take notice....makes Justin Hawkins sound like Laa Laa from the
Teletubbies....On the whole, Cabin Fever is audacious in the extreme but
without being overwrought and pretentious, making it a more enjoyable
experience with every listen.' - Drowned In Sound
'rarely does such disregard for the basic principles of songwriting provide
such exhilerating results' - Rock Sound
'Scaramanga Six are probably guilty of being far too original for their
own
good (if only they'd compromise a little bit and play the game like all
the
other well behaved rule obeying bands then they'd be all over XFM and
nominated for a Mercury approval prize). Original demons on their back,
walls closing in but they're not the types to let guilt get in the way,
they're persistent, consistent, persistently consistently good.' - The
Organ
'The third album by The Scaramanga Six is going to be one of the best
new
rock albums you hear this year. Packed full of passion, noisy guitars,
drama and good, old-fashioned originality. Cabin Fever is simply one of
this year's must have albums. Not "must have" albums like those
ones in the
HMV sale, I mean MUST HAVE. Buy it. - Indigo Flow
'This is one of those albums where your favourites are destined
to change
over repeated listens.' - CD Times
'Think half Nick Cave fronting QOTSA with the GLC on lyrical duties and
half brit-pop hitting puberty. Does that make sense? No? Its not meant
to.
Let the Kaiser Chiefs side of Leeds keep the sense, the Scaramanga side
has
the tunes. Metaphorical buckets of them.' - Rock City
'Horribly catchy and deceptively clever this lot have everything you want
to power pop. The Leeds boys done rather good really.' - Blog Critics
RADIO 1 play The Scaramanga Six!!!! - Yes, that's right. On the evening
of
13/09/05, Huw Stephens on his 'OneMusic' show will be airing a track from
this very album. It remains to be seen which becomes his pick of the bunch,
but undoubtedly it will cause the bleeding lugs of many uninitiated
listeners.
